BMW has released a dark teaser for a new motorsport version of the M4, offering few clues. The distinctive grille with horizontal slats suggests this is likely the M4 GT3 EVO, not the GT4 EVO, which has a different grille pattern. Yellow accents in the image confirm the model's track-focused nature, ruling out a production variant.

Since the M4 GT3 EVO was updated in 2025, a major technical overhaul is unlikely. It's more plausible that BMW is preparing to unveil its 2026 WEC season livery. The team has already announced its driver lineup: Valentino Rossi, Kelvin van der Linde, and Ahmad Al Harthy will pilot car #46, while Augusto Farfus, Timur Boguslavskiy, and Yasser Shahin will drive #31.

The WEC season start has been moved to April 17-19 in Imola, and BMW may have chosen this timing to reveal the cars' visual design early. From a practical standpoint, a completely new type of racing M4 is improbable—the GT3 EVO and GT4 EVO already cover major championships, including IMSA.

Nevertheless, BMW hints that the premiere will "shake up social media," leaving room for fans to dream of bolder ideas, such as a racing version of the M3 Touring. Such speculation isn't unfounded: last year, the brand revealed a digital concept of the M3 Touring GT3 EVO on April 1st.
