Nissan is strengthening its position in the safety segment, earning several high ratings from the IIHS. In the latest round of evaluations, four 2026 models received prestigious awards.

Sentra breaks into the top category for the first time

The main news is the recognition of the new Nissan Sentra, which has earned a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating for the first time. This is a significant step for the model, especially considering its accessible starting price of $22,600.

The sedan comes equipped with the Safety Shield 360 suite of systems, making it one of the most comprehensively equipped offerings in its class. This move solidifies Nissan's position in the mass market segment.

Crossover models confirm their standard

The Murano and Pathfinder have retained the top-tier TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating, confirming their consistent safety performance. Both vehicles offer all-wheel drive, an expanded set of driver-assistance features, and a focus on comfort for family buyers.

The flagship Armada earned a TOP SAFETY PICK rating, further bolstering Nissan's standing in the full-size SUV segment. The lineup ranges from the off-road PRO-4X version to the sporty NISMO trim.

Safety becomes a key factor

With the previously recognized Rogue included, the total number of Nissan models with IIHS awards has reached five. This demonstrates the brand's systematic approach to developing safety technologies.

For the market, this means increased competition in a segment where buyers are increasingly focusing not just on price and power, but also on the level of protection. This is especially relevant for family vehicles.
