Half-price Toyota? The discount war has reached Britain

Toyota has sharply stepped up its pricing campaigns on selected models in the UK. According to Auto Express, deals offering savings of more than 50% have appeared on the market, with the maximum discount reaching 54% — applied to selected Toyota light commercial vehicles.

This does not cover the brand’s entire range, but only a small group of commercial models. Among the eligible vehicles, the author names the Proace electric van and the two-seat commercial versions of the hybrid Corolla. The promotion is time-limited and runs until 30 June 2026. So talk of «Toyota cars at half price» should be treated with caution: this is not a blanket price cut across all of the brand’s passenger models.

The main driver is the fierce competition in the British market. Toyota has to fight not only European and Korean brands, but also the growing pressure from Chinese manufacturers. In the view of the publication, the Japanese brand has effectively declared a price war on its rivals — and the only question is whether they will respond in kind.

For commercial-vehicle buyers, this could be a good moment to renew a fleet, provided the version they need genuinely qualifies for the programme. But it is worth reading the terms carefully: the VAT and taxation system for LCVs is complicated, and the finance offers may carry high interest charges.
