Range Rover SV Ultra: a $252,800 lounge on wheels that ignores Bentley Bentayga

The Range Rover SV Ultra has appeared in Jaguar Land Rover's US configurator and instantly became the most luxurious version of the flagship SUV. Pricing starts at $252,800 — already Bentley Bentayga territory, not just an expensive Range Rover.

Unlike the Range Rover SV Black, the new Ultra is not about sportiness but about feeling like a sealed-off lounge. The body can be ordered in the exclusive Titan Silver paint, mixed with real aluminum flake and special pigments for an almost mirror-like finish. It is paired with Satin Platinum Atlas and Silver Chrome accents and 22- or 23-inch wheels with new Range Rover center caps.

The cabin avoids natural leather entirely: it uses Ultrafabrics in a two-tone Orchid White and Cinder Grey scheme. Instead of the usual gloss trim, there is a natural open-pore rattan palm veneer. Here Range Rover is selling not just expensive materials but a calm, almost hotel-like atmosphere.

The headline feature is the SV Electrostatic Sound system. It uses 21 thin-film transducers along with Body and Soul Seat and Sensory Floor technology. Passengers don't just hear the music — they physically feel it through vibrations in the seats and floor. It sounds like a toy for the rich, but details like these are exactly what separate regular premium from ultra-luxury.

For now, the SV Ultra is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 sourced from BMW. In this application it delivers 607 hp, paired with an 8-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. A fully electric version is expected later this year.

Range Rover has been selling status for decades, but the SV Ultra adds another layer to it — privacy, silence and the feeling of expensive space. The question is no longer how well it handles off-road, but whether you'll even want to step out at the hotel entrance.
