The Kia Tasman pickup, which debuted in 2024, could soon gain a hybrid variant. Australian media report that the company is developing a more potent electrified setup designed to outmuscle the current diesel and gasoline offerings. If it makes production, the package promises not only stronger performance but also broader everyday usefulness.

At its core is a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with two electric motors, echoing the layout slated for the next generation of the Hyundai Palisade. The combined output is listed at 245 kW (333 hp) and 460 Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission.

The system supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), allowing users to power household appliances or equipment while camping, and it includes regenerative braking. That kind of functionality effectively turns the vehicle into a mobile power source—handy far from the grid and practical on job sites.

While Kia has yet to officially confirm the project, the brand’s head of product planning in Australia indicated that launching such a variant would make sense. Rumors also suggest the Tasman could later underpin a seven-seat SUV positioned against the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Ford Everest.
