Florida has won America’s most beautiful patrol car contest for the fourth year running. The black-and-tan Ford Mustang fielded by the state’s highway patrol took 52,249 votes out of 360,433 cast. It beat its closest rival by 14,595 votes, capturing roughly 14.5% of total support.

Michigan State Police led for nearly the entire vote, but Florida pulled ahead in the final weekend. Michigan finished with 37,654 votes, while Georgia took 34,933. Ohio followed with 17,212 votes and Kentucky with 16,541. Last place among 49 entrants went to Oregon, whose car drew just 185 supporters.

The contest, now in its 13th year, is run by the American Association of State Troopers. It’s a purely public vote on looks and photography — performance, protection, equipment and patrol effectiveness aren’t judged at all.

Photos of the 13 top finishers will appear in the 2027 wall calendar, with Florida’s winning car on the cover. Calendar sales fund educational scholarships for the families of state troopers.

So Florida’s fourth win is really a testament to the recognizable black-and-tan livery and the enthusiasm of its fans — not proof the Mustang beats other patrol cars on technical merit.
