Hyundai Red Dot Design Concept 2026: MobED, Concept THREE and CRATER Concept awards

Hyundai has won three awards at the international Red Dot: Design Concept 2026 competition. The modular robot MobED earned the top Best of the Best honor in its Urban Hopper and Golf variants, while the Concept THREE and CRATER Concept electric vehicles received Winner status.

MobED is built on a universal wheeled platform that can be fitted with different top modules. The Urban Hopper version is designed as a compact personal mobility device, while Golf works as an autonomous caddie for carrying gear around the course. A body posture control system lets the platform stay level on slopes and climb curbs up to 20 cm high. MobED has also been nominated for Luminary, the competition’s top award, with the winner to be announced in October. Red Dot’s Luminary award recognizes the best design concept of the year.

Concept THREE is a compact city EV with an “Aero Hatch” body style, a cabin that’s roomy for its size, and a transparent rear spoiler. The second car, CRATER Concept, is an off-road electric vehicle with wide fenders, underbody protection, extra roof-mounted lights, and an interior inspired by roll cages.

Both cars remain design studies for now. The awards judge their appearance, layout and underlying ideas, but don’t confirm series production, launch timing or future specifications.
