Hondata Ownership Change 2026: What Happens to FlashPro Support and Licensing

Hondata, one of the leading names in engine-management software and hardware for Honda and Acura, has come under the control of Engineered Performance Technologies (EPT). The value of the deal has not been disclosed. EPT’s website already carries a separate “Hondata Acquisition” link, though the detailed page was unavailable at the time SPEEDME journalists checked it. The group says it builds its business through acquisitions and had already closed eight such deals before this one.

The first reports surfaced after a draft press release was posted in a Honda Type R owners’ community. The document mentioned that specialized support would be retained and that Hondata would gain access to additional engineering and manufacturing resources. No official statement with the terms of the deal had been published at that point, so the financial structure of the acquisition and how independently the brand will continue to operate remain unknown.

EPT already runs Cobb Tuning, EcuTek and AutoMeter, and its strategy centers on access to a vehicle’s electronic systems, data analysis and control-parameter tuning. With Hondata added to the portfolio, the group strengthens its position in the Honda and Acura segment, where it is also reported to own components maker PRL Motorsports.

What matters to users isn’t the ownership change itself, but the update and licensing policy going forward. The FlashPro connects through the diagnostic port, reflashes the ECU and is tied to a specific vehicle. The dealer version uses a separate license for every car flashed for the first time. Any changes to pricing, support for older devices or access terms have not been announced yet.
