Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo 2026: New Roof, Interior and Ludwigsfelde Production

The updated Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo gets a taller aluminum pop-up roof, an eight-speaker sound system and Ludwigsfelde in-house assembly. Orders open August 5, 2026.

An extra 10 cm of headroom is the main practical change in the updated Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo. The camper van gets a two-layer aluminum pop-up roof, and its rear section now rises higher. Orders in Germany and other European countries open on August 5, 2026, though pricing and the engine lineup have not been announced yet.

Mercedes is not pulling production out of Spain entirely. The base V-Class will continue to be built at the Vitoria plant. The vans are then shipped to Ludwigsfelde in Germany, where Mercedes-Benz now handles the conversion into a Marco Polo in-house. The company expects better quality control and shorter delivery times.

The living module gets LED lighting for the pop-up roof with warm and cool scenes, magnetic blackout panels for the front cabin, and a completely redesigned awning. The handle for unfolding it can now be stored directly in its mount. The fold-out tables, drawer runners, rear-bench control panel and the fridge have also been reworked, with the fridge now using less energy.

The new sound system includes eight speakers and a subwoofer. Music can be streamed over Bluetooth even with the main infotainment system switched off. Through the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Control suite and its app, owners can control the roof lighting and the sound system. Earlier, SPEEDME.RU reported on the Mercedes-Benz VLE, which points to where the brand’s passenger lineup is headed next.

Not all the equipment will be available right away. Mercedes says the new sliding skylight and the pop-up roof’s first-ever panoramic fabric window will only arrive closer to the end of 2026. So cars from the first orders may differ from the vehicles shown with every announced feature.

Moving final assembly to Germany does not change what the Marco Polo is built on: it remains a Spanish-built V-Class, now converted into a camper at a second plant. What matters more for buyers is this — the extra headroom is available from the start of sales, while the panoramic opening roof will take until the end of the year.
