MINI Countryman Edition 2026: October Reveal Date, Off-Road Testing and What We Know So Far

MINI has effectively confirmed the imminent arrival of a more off-road-focused Countryman, something brand representatives had hinted at before. A camouflaged prototype is now undergoing final testing in the Rocky Mountains in the United States, and the world premiere of the special edition is set for October 2026. The company has not yet revealed the engine, drivetrain type, or ground clearance.

The car is being tested on gravel roads, rocky sections, remote mountain routes and passes. MINI specifically highlights the effects of altitude, unstable surfaces and rapidly changing weather — conditions that are difficult to fully replicate on a standard test track.

The phrase “specially engineered” suggests this could be more than a cosmetic package. However, MINI has not confirmed a retuned suspension, off-road tyres, underbody protection, or increased ground clearance. It’s also unclear whether the base will be the petrol Countryman ALL4 or the electric SE ALL4.

The published images show a pre-production test vehicle that isn’t yet available for sale. As a result, the test camouflage and some body elements may still change before the premiere. MINI also hasn’t named markets, production volume, delivery timing, or pricing for the new model.

The preparation of this variant doesn’t come as a surprise. Back in February, SPEEDME.RU reported that MINI is developing a taller, off-road-oriented Countryman. The brand later began expanding its all-wheel-drive lineup: in Japan, for example, the Countryman S ALL4 Select appeared with 204 hp.

The upcoming model will remain a special interpretation of the current Countryman rather than a new generation. How deeply engineers have altered the chassis, and whether the car will handle anything beyond gravel roads, MINI will only explain at the October premiere.
