Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new GLA. Three electric versions with 58 and 85 kWh batteries offer up to 657 km WLTP and 320 kW charging, German prices start at €48,599.60 and deliveries begin in November.

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the new GLA: the premiere took place in Warsaw on 29 July 2026, and the three electric versions arrive with 58 and 85 kWh batteries, up to 657 km of range and charging at up to 320 kW. Orders open in Germany on 30 July, with prices starting at €48,599.60.

The new Mercedes-Benz GLA sits 20 mm lower than its predecessor, yet the wheelbase has grown by 61 mm to 2,790 mm. The SUV measures 4,565 mm in length, 1,873 mm in width and 1,604 mm in height, and the drag coefficient is down to 0.27. Rear passengers gain 38 mm more legroom, while the boot grows by 70 litres over the EQA, to 410 litres. At the front there is now an illuminated grille with a central star — a first in the brand’s compact class. Deliveries of the three electric versions begin in November.

Three electric versions with 224, 272 and 354 hp

The entry-level GLA 200 electric uses a 165 kW motor, or 224 hp, and a lithium iron phosphate battery with 58 kWh of usable capacity. The GLA 250+ delivers 200 kW, or 272 hp, while the all-wheel-drive GLA 350 4MATIC produces 260 kW, or 354 hp. The two higher versions run an 85 kWh NMC pack, and in early 2027 a variant with a 71 kWh battery joins the range. Torque is 335 Nm on the rear-wheel-drive cars and 515 Nm on the 4MATIC, while 0–100 km/h takes 8.1 seconds in the entry model, 7.3 in the GLA 250+ and 5.4 seconds in the flagship. All three top out at 210 km/h.

The 657 km range and 320 kW charging belong to the big battery alone

The highest range in the line-up is 657 km on the WLTP cycle, but that figure belongs to the GLA 250+: the all-wheel-drive version covers 555 to 643 km and the entry GLA 200 electric 394 to 447 km. The 800-volt architecture supports DC charging at up to 320 kW and puts up to 270 km of range back in ten minutes, with the 85 kWh battery going from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes. The base car is capped at 200 kW and recovers 145 to 165 km in those same ten minutes. An optional DC converter is required to use 400-volt stations. On alternating current the standard rate is 11 kW, rising to 22 kW at extra cost.

What looked in February like GLA moving to the MMA platform with around 630 km of range is now confirmed by a production car, and the official figure came in 27 km higher than the preliminary one. The GLA is part of the largest model offensive Mercedes-Benz has staged in 2026, covering several key segments of the brand at once.

When the hybrid arrives and what sits inside it

Early in 2027 a 48-volt hybrid with a new 1.5-litre turbo engine follows, straight away in two power levels and with front- or all-wheel drive. The 22 kW electric motor, whose boost lasts no longer than 20 seconds, is built into the new eight-speed dual-clutch 8F-eDCT transmission, and a battery of up to 1.3 kWh allows brief electric running in town. The system can shut the combustion engine down while coasting at more than 100 km/h if less than 22 kW is needed, and it recuperates up to 25 kW in all eight gears.

“The new GLA will delight our customers every day. Drawing on 140 years of innovation, we have created the most expressive GLA in the model’s history. The completely redesigned interior offers more space and comfort, making our current best-selling compact model even more appealing,” said Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius.

A 107-litre front boot and a two-tonne towing rating

The electric versions add a front boot of 107 litres. With the rear seat backs folded the main compartment swallows up to 1,400 litres, and the all-wheel-drive GLA can pull a trailer of up to two tonnes — the rear-wheel-drive versions are limited to 1.5 tonnes. For trips off the tarmac, cars with 4MATIC get the TERRAIN driving mode, while the optional “transparent bonnet” shows the surface underneath the car.

Inside the cabin: MBUX Superscreen and eight cameras looking out

The cabin can be fitted with the optional MBUX Superscreen: a 10.25-inch instrument display and two 14-inch screens united behind a single pane of glass. The voice assistant draws on ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing and Google Gemini technology, handles multi-step dialogue and keeps a short-term memory, while navigation is based on Google Maps. The assistance suite works with eight cameras, five radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a computer delivering up to 254 TOPS.

“The new GLA makes advanced technology intuitive. Thanks to MB.OS and AI-based functions it acts proactively, helps in everyday life and noticeably raises comfort. A broad range of electric and electrified drivetrains, up to 657 kilometres of range and the ability to recover up to 270 kilometres in just ten minutes set new standards for practical electric mobility in this segment,” noted Mercedes-Benz CTO Jörg Burzer.

How much the new Mercedes-Benz GLA costs in Germany

In Germany the GLA 200 electric starts at €48,599.60, the GLA 250+ at €54,978 and the GLA 350 4MATIC at €58,107.70 including VAT but excluding delivery charges. The step up from the entry car to the 85 kWh battery therefore costs €6,378, and the move to all-wheel drive €9,508.

“For many of our customers the GLA has long been more than just a car — it accompanies them through everyday life. In developing the new GLA we focused on what really matters to buyers: a combination of sporty character, extra space, greater comfort and technology that can be used intuitively and naturally,” said Mathias Geisen, the Mercedes-Benz board member for sales and customer experience.
