Bentley Torcal 2026: spy photos, size, and what we know before the September 23 reveal

With 55 days to go before the world premiere of Bentley Torcal, a fully camouflaged prototype has already turned up in one of the most public places in California — Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. The car was photographed parked between a BMW i5 and an Audi sedan, giving a much clearer look at its real proportions.

Photos sent in by a CarBuzz reader show that Bentley's first series-production EV won't be a scaled-up Bentayga. The Torcal's hood line sits roughly level with the bottom of the neighboring BMW i5's trunk, and the body itself looks noticeably lower and more compact than a traditional full-size luxury SUV.

Bentley officially describes the Torcal as an urban crossover and the fourth standalone model line after the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga. The car will be fully unveiled in London on September 23, 2026. Power output, battery capacity, certified range and pricing haven't been published yet.

The car's appearance on Rodeo Drive is unlike Bentley's usual testing routine. The electric Bentley was previously tracked at the Nürburgring, where engineers could evaluate the handling of a heavy electric crossover. In Beverly Hills, the prototype instead turned up among luxury boutiques and Bentley's own potential customers.

It's possible the car was brought to California ahead of Monterey Car Week, running August 7–16. Another theory is a private client showing or an informal gauge of public reaction to the design. Neither has been confirmed.

Technically, the Torcal is linked to the platform underpinning the future Porsche Cayenne Electric and an 800-volt architecture, though Bentley hasn't confirmed either detail. Reports of more than 1,000 hp and roughly 400 kW charging should therefore be treated as preliminary rather than confirmed production specs.

Bentley's bigger challenge isn't technical — it's where the Torcal sits in the segment. The first electric Ferrari Luce arrived with 1,050 hp and a price around €550,000, and that story previously broke down the specs of Torcal's main new rival. Bentley will need to explain why a more practical SUV body justifies a comparable status.

Torcal deliveries are expected in 2027, though Bentley hasn't confirmed an exact date. The next confirmed milestone is the September 23 reveal, when Bentley is due to disclose the powertrain, battery, range and positioning relative to the Bentayga.
