Luxeed RX 2026: Price, Release Date and Specs of the Huawei-Chery Electric SUV

China's Luxeed RX is moving from teasers to sales: preorders for the new electric SUV open in August 2026. Huawei and Chery have not yet revealed the exact launch date, price, or down payment amount, but the dimensions, two drivetrain options, and an unusual four-lidar setup are already confirmed.

According to previously published data, the RX measures 5,020 mm in length, 2,007 mm in width, and 1,585 mm in height, with a 3,000 mm wheelbase. The headlights can respond to voice commands and play animations, and buyers are promised more than 20 paint options. Equipment also includes the Huawei Tuling platform, Giant Whale battery architecture, and redundancy for key driver-assistance components.

Documents from China's regulator reveal more detail on the powertrains. The rear-wheel-drive Luxeed RX gets a Huawei electric motor rated at 277 kW, or roughly 377 hp. The all-wheel-drive version pairs 160 kW and 277 kW motors for a combined 437 kW — about 594 hp. Top speed is listed at 251 km/h.

In size, the RX is nearly identical to the Xiaomi YU7: the Huawei-Chery newcomer is 21 mm longer, 11 mm wider, and 15 mm lower, while both models share an identical 3,000 mm wheelbase. That overlap makes the YU7 one of its most obvious rivals even before pricing is announced. Xiaomi's official dimensions are 4,999x1,996x1,600 mm.

The updated Luxeed R7 and S7 recently received Huawei's new driver-assistance suite. The RX raises the stakes further: four lidars and a redundant sensor architecture are set to be its main technical differentiator from more mainstream electric crossovers.

Comparisons with the Xiaomi YU7, which offers up to 835 km of range on the CLTC cycle, remain incomplete for now. Luxeed has yet to disclose battery capacity, charging speed, or certified range — the figures that will show whether the RX offers anything beyond high power output and a heavy sensor count.

The story surrounding its designers calls for extra caution. The public dispute over the RX's styling began when Luxeed executive vice president Zhao Changjiang claimed the brand had hired a "former Ferrari chief designer" — Ferrari Greater China PR director Ingrid Sun publicly asked for his name. Chinese outlet Yiche has linked the design to Werner Gruber, who previously worked at Ferrari on projects including the LaFerrari, though Gruber himself held the title of senior exterior design chief there, not "chief designer" — so branding the RX as coming from "the creator of the LaFerrari" can't yet be considered fully confirmed.

No deliveries of the Luxeed RX to Russia have been announced. With Chinese pricing still unpublished, it's also too early to assess prospects for parallel imports: the deciding factors will be the price of the all-wheel-drive version, battery type, Russian-language support, and the feasibility of servicing a complex four-lidar system.
