2027 Chevrolet Colorado: Universal Home Remote, 5G Wi-Fi and New L4B Engine Code

The 2027 Chevrolet Colorado will get two features the current pickup has never had: 5G connectivity and Universal Home Remote. According to GM Authority, the first upgrade will speed up the truck's built-in Wi-Fi hotspot, while the second will let owners control garage doors, gate barriers and compatible smart-home devices right from the vehicle.

Universal Home Remote has been missing from the Colorado since the third generation launched in 2023. It's not just a button on the headliner: the current Chevrolet system can store up to eight remotes, surface them on the center screen, and trigger the right command based on the vehicle's location.

SPEEDME.RU previously reported on the Colorado's upcoming update, which may touch the front end, cabin and powertrain. The current truck runs a 2.7-liter TurboMax L3B rated at 310 hp and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm), paired with an eight-speed automatic.

GM Authority now links the 2027 model to an updated engine carrying the L4B code, replacing the L3B. There's no official output figure yet, so any bump in power remains unconfirmed. The related GMC Canyon uses the same current powertrain, underscoring the shared technical base of the two trucks.

Production of the 2027 Chevrolet Colorado is tentatively set for October 19, 2026, at GM's Wentzville plant. The real reason to wait for the new version won't be 5G support alone, but the combination of the returned home-connectivity feature with a possible power increase — once official L4B specs are published.
