Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift 2026: Launch Date, Price and What’s New

Maruti Suzuki will hold the Indian launch of the updated Baleno on September 5, Autocar India reports. The date matters beyond the calendar: between January and June 2026, the Baleno found 96,996 buyers and finished seventh among India’s best-selling cars. Maruti is refreshing an already strong seller here, not trying to revive a model that has lost demand.

The most visible change sits up front. April’s prototypes showed a narrower grille with a horizontal bar and a reworked bumper. The headlights, with their signature LED daytime running lights, look largely unchanged on the test car, while the familiar fog lamps have disappeared. Side-on, the main difference should come down to the wheels; at the rear, a new bumper is expected alongside the current tail-lights, spoiler and wiper. These details were captured in the first spy shots of the Baleno facelift.

The cabin doesn’t promise a full overhaul either: the prototype kept the existing dashboard layout and the separately mounted 9-inch touchscreen. New upholstery is possible, but extra features such as a sunroof remain expectations rather than confirmed Maruti additions. That distinction matters ahead of the reveal: the automaker still hasn’t fully disclosed the facelift’s specification.

The same goes for the mechanicals. The current generation uses a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine producing about 90hp and 113Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual or AMT; the CNG version offers less output and comes only with the manual. Autocar expects this lineup to carry over after the facelift, though there’s no official confirmation yet. The second generation itself arrived in India in February 2022 with the same 1.2-litre engine and 5MT/AGS transmissions.

Facelift pricing hasn’t been announced either. The current Baleno costs Rs 5.99–9.17 lakh, roughly $6,800–$10,400 at today’s exchange rate. A significant price hike could complicate the new car’s standing next to the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and its Toyota Glanza sibling, which makes the new pricing one of the key numbers to watch at the September reveal.

India’s market is meanwhile entering a dense cycle of updates: an updated Tata Tiago EV is among the new arrivals planned for 2026, another compact hatchback aimed at price-conscious buyers. For the Baleno, September 5 therefore comes down to three things: the final price, the confirmed powertrain lineup and the equipment list — the styling has already been largely revealed by the prototypes.
