Mercedes C 300 4MATIC Electric: price, range, power and charging

Mercedes-Benz has added the more affordable C 300 4MATIC to the German electric C-Class range. The official price is €62,951 including VAT. That is €4,760, or 7%, less than the C 400 4MATIC that launched the electric sedan's sales in May.

The lower price comes with a smaller battery — 85 instead of 94 kWh — and a drop in output from 360 to 310 kW. The C 300 produces 800 Nm, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and offers up to 690 km of WLTP range. The C 400 manages 4.0 seconds and up to 762 km. In other words, the saving costs 72 km of rated range and 50 kW of power.

Charging-stop time is virtually unchanged. The C 300 accepts up to 320 kW versus 330 kW for the C 400, while both versions charge from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes. In ten minutes, the junior model can add up to 290 km of WLTP range versus 325 km for the more powerful version.

When orders for the electric C-Class first opened, buyers were offered only the C 400 4MATIC at €67,711. The new C 300 noticeably broadens the price range, and its official price is also €1,785 below the roughly €64,736 figure cited in preliminary August data.

Mercedes says rear-wheel-drive versions and other battery options will follow. The manufacturer has not yet announced exact launch dates.
