Cadillac XT5 PHEV price, 1,360 km range and lifetime warranty in China

Cadillac XT5 PHEV passed 3,000 customer deliveries just 17 days after its China launch on September 7. Cadillac announced the milestone on September 24 and at the same time expanded the warranty: first non-commercial owners now receive lifetime coverage for the traction battery, electric motors and control electronics. The benefit also applies to vehicles already delivered.

This is more precise than saying it happened within the first few days: a little over two weeks passed between the sales launch and the announcement of the 3,000th delivery. Along with the new warranty, Cadillac kept the temporary price from 259,900 yuan. The upper version costs 279,900 yuan under the promotion.

The XT5 PHEV became Cadillac’s first plug-in hybrid crossover. The official Chinese release confirms all-wheel drive, a two-speed DHT and a total range of up to 1,360 km. The hybrid system uses a P1+P3+P4 layout with three electric machines, while the front and rear traction motors provide all-wheel drive. Even with a depleted battery, claimed fuel consumption is 6.05 l/100 km, and 0–100 km/h takes 5.4 seconds versus 4.8 seconds with a full charge.

Another focus is electronics developed for the Chinese market. The XT5 PHEV became the first production vehicle to use the Momenta R7 model and also received lidar. GM China says Cadillac and Momenta jointly adapted the system at the level of algorithms, data, chassis and vehicle calibration. Cadillac’s China strategy can also be seen on other models: the local electric flagship Kayweide likewise uses lidar and Momenta solutions.

For buyers outside China, another detail matters. Russia is currently absent from Cadillac’s official list of markets, while China is listed separately. Therefore, if an XT5 PHEV is privately imported, the Chinese lifetime warranty, insurance benefits and three-year protection for driver-assistance systems cannot automatically be assumed to apply; the terms must be checked with the seller and a Chinese dealer.

The warranty is the main change after the start of sales. Price and technical specifications were already known on September 7, while after the first 3,000 deliveries Cadillac effectively strengthened the offer by protecting the most expensive PHEV components. The next objective test of demand will be a full month of XT5 PHEV sales statistics in China.
