Automotive expert Dmitry Novikov singled out five crossovers that prove reliability isn’t a myth. These models have earned a reputation for longevity, covering hundreds of thousands of kilometers without a major overhaul. As he noted in a conversation with 32CARS.RU, their staying power comes down to straightforward design and solid engineering.

Toyota RAV4 remains a benchmark for durability: naturally aspirated engines paired with a traditional automatic transmission keep working for decades, while the suspension takes Russia’s harsh roads in stride. Even twenty-year-old examples are still on the move without serious intervention.

Honda CR-V is likewise known as one of the toughest crossovers. With regular maintenance, it comfortably reaches 300,000 kilometers, retaining a smooth ride and strong appeal on the used market. Subaru Forester stands out with its true symmetrical all-wheel drive and a long-lived engine—just keep an eye on the oil and the timing belt.

Lexus RX shows that premium can last: naturally aspirated V6s and robust anti-corrosion protection help the car look fresh even past a quarter of a million kilometers. And Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano stay true to simplicity—their mechanicals and suspension are built for hard use, while a chain-driven timing system sidesteps belt-related headaches.

All of this points to a simple truth: genuine reliability doesn’t need a sales pitch. These crossovers are chosen by drivers who want not just to arrive, but to keep driving for years without unnecessary costs.
