Mercedes-Benz has announced a recall of a limited batch of 2025 G-Class SUVs. Only 12 vehicles are involved, specifically the AMG G63 and G580. The issue traces back to a defect in the printed circuit board of the front short-range radar, which can disable automatic emergency braking and other driver-assistance features, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the affected radar sensors at no cost to owners. Notification letters are scheduled to begin on December 16, 2025. Owners can check whether their vehicle is included at NHTSA.gov or by contacting the Mercedes-Benz hotline.

While the numbers are small, the swift response underscores a priority on safety in these premium models. The recall will not affect production of 2026 vehicles, where the driver-assistance suite is set to be upgraded. For a model with the G-Class’s stature, a proactive fix is the right call: capability is part of the appeal, but so is confidence in the tech that backs it up.
