Audi has introduced new digital Matrix LED headlights for the refreshed Q3, built on micro-LED technology. It’s the brand’s first use of this solution in its compact class. According to Michael Kruppa, head of front lighting development, the system was designed to improve not only forward visibility but also safety for all road users. The move underscores how lighting is increasingly treated as a driver-assistance tool rather than mere decoration.

Each headlamp integrates a 13 mm module with 25,600 micro-LEDs that can be controlled individually. This setup lets the vehicle project guiding light lines to help the driver stay centered in the lane and read the road more easily. When the turn signal is activated, the system subtly highlights the intended direction, and as temperatures drop it casts a snowflake warning onto the asphalt. The projected cues come across as intuitive and quietly useful rather than showy.

In addition, the digital lighting automatically adapts to surrounding traffic, avoiding glare for oncoming drivers. That approach positions the Audi Q3 among the new 2026 models where lighting tech ties directly into assistance and comfort features, sharpening visibility and building confidence behind the wheel.
