According to the latest research by Consumer Reports, car buyers should take a careful look at certain brands, with Rivian drawing particular scrutiny after topping the publication’s list of least reliable manufacturers. The company has built its name on innovative electric pickups and SUVs targeting the clean-transport market, yet its vehicles are prompting serious questions about reliability and build quality.

Rivian ended up at the head of this negative ranking after numerous owner reports of significant technical issues, including the need to replace batteries and failures in electronic components. Following its analysis, Consumer Reports’ specialists assigned the brand a reliability score of just 14 out of 100.

Even with official factory warranties in place, the stream of critical owner feedback is dragging down the brand’s reputation and making potential buyers think twice about choosing a Rivian EV. For many, that level of support doesn’t yet inspire confidence in a young American electric-car maker—no matter how appealing the specs or how closely the company tries to follow modern trends. In the end, trust tends to outweigh what looks good on paper.
