Lucid Motors announced a fresh milestone: the 2026 Lucid Air has again been named the most efficient electric vehicle in the United States, according to EPA ratings. The Air Pure RWD with 19-inch wheels is rated at 146 MPGe—matching the prior generation’s record and surpassing the Tesla Model Y Standard (138 MPGe) and Model 3 Premium (137 MPGe). Toyota bZ and the Mercedes CLA250 Plus EV also remain behind.

The company notes that the result comes from its own engineering: the powertrain, software, and battery pack were designed from the ground up, without relying on third-party suppliers. Lucid credits this approach for the Air’s earlier benchmark of 8 km per kWh in 2024 and says it has stayed ahead of the industry despite new arrivals from competitors. Taken together, the message is clear: efficiency sits at the core of the brand’s priorities.

The brand is also lowering prices. While the first Air Dream Edition started at $169,000, the Air now starts at $70,900. Meanwhile, output of the Gravity SUV is climbing, including the more attainable Touring version at $79,900. It’s a sharp shift that makes the Air feel far more within reach.

At the end of 2026, Lucid plans to begin production of a new mid-size platform: at least three models are expected at around $50,000—a crossover, its off-road version, and a sedan positioned as a Tesla Model 3 rival. The company says its financial resources should last until mid-2027 and that the rollout is on schedule. The direction looks pragmatic; execution will be the real test.
