Consumer Reports has pulled the three-row GMC Acadia from its Recommended list after the 2026 model year earned a low predicted reliability score.

The decision draws on CR’s large-scale annual survey of more than 380,000 vehicle owners. Analysts flagged recurring trouble areas for the Acadia, particularly involving the transmission, brakes, and electrical systems.

The downgrade is striking given the substantial 2024 overhaul. The redesign delivered a roomier interior and a 328-hp 2.5-liter turbocharged I4 (LK0), yet Consumer Reports noted that it also coincided with weaker fuel economy and a bothersome level of engine noise inside the cabin. It’s a reminder that sweeping updates can boost comfort and power while introducing new compromises.

A closer look at the numbers shows Acadia’s dependability concerns aren’t new. For the 2025 model year, Consumer Reports already rated its reliability below average, while the 2022 and 2023 versions landed around average. For family-focused buyers, that trajectory can be hard to ignore when weighing everyday usability against the latest features.
