Subaru has dropped a second teaser for a mysterious model, and fans are already pegging it as a contender for the next WRX STI. The clip lingers on the cabin and a few body details, but keeps the real meat offscreen: there are still no figures for power, torque, or performance.

Inside, the video shows a fully digital instrument cluster that differs from the regular WRX, and the display includes a boost-pressure readout. For something headed to showrooms, that comes across as a pointed hint at a more hardcore setup.

Another touch, noted by journalists at 32CARS.RU, is the pedal layout, which suggests a manual gearbox. The soundtrack nudges in the same direction, with telltale drops in revs on upshifts and throttle blips on downshifts. The engine note is less clear-cut: instead of the brand’s familiar boxer burble, the clip carries a more neutral four-cylinder tone, so it’s too early to call.

Subaru had previously said that a full-fledged STI based on the current WRX VB wasn’t in the cards, yet in recent years the brand has regularly stoked interest with concepts and interim editions like the S210.

The wait won’t be long: the full debut is slated for January 9, 2026, which is when it should become clear whether this is the real STI or another special edition wearing the right badge.
