Chinese automaker Geely has officially confirmed its entry into the Spanish market under its own brand. Until now, the company has been present in the country through subsidiary brands, but it is now betting on direct presence and its own independent dealer network.

Key Aspect

Geely Auto announced the brand's launch in Spain during 2026. The company intends to roll out a network of over 50 official dealers before the end of the year, indicating high confidence in the market's potential. The lineup will include vehicles with gasoline engines, hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric models, allowing it to appeal to a broad range of customers.

Technical and Market Details

Spain was not chosen by chance; the market shows strong interest in new technologies and Chinese manufacturers. Geely plans to ensure a full-fledged after-sales service infrastructure, including its own parts warehouse, to avoid problems other brands have faced previously.

The first models will arrive in the second quarter. Among them is expected to be the electric Geely EX5 crossover, which is 4.62 meters long, features a 60 kWh LFP battery, offers a 430 km WLTP range, and supports fast charging up to 160 kW. This model has already received a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Future Plans

Beyond the EX5, the Spanish market might see the compact electric vehicle Geome Xingyuan, also known as the EX2. This hatchback became the best-selling car in China in 2025 and could potentially compete with mass-market European B-segment electric cars. Geely's entry will intensify competition in affordable segments and increase pressure on traditional manufacturers regarding price and equipment.
