Chery has officially launched its Jaecoo brand in Germany, betting on aggressive pricing and hybrid technology. The first model is the compact Jaecoo 7 SHS crossover, which enters a crowded and competitive segment right away.

Price and Trim Levels

In Germany, the model debuts in a First Edition version. The base Select trim is priced at €36,900 and already includes large wheels, dual-zone climate control, and navigation.

The top Exclusive version costs €39,500 and adds more premium comfort features, including a head-up display and panoramic roof. For a new brand, this is a clear signal: they aim to compete in the mainstream, not a niche.

Unusual Hybrid Setup

The Jaecoo 7 SHS uses an atypical architecture for this segment. A 204-horsepower electric motor handles most of the propulsion, while the gasoline engine often acts as a generator. In certain modes, it can connect directly to the wheels. The electric-only range reaches 90 kilometers, which means daily driving can almost avoid using the internal combustion engine altogether.

Market Entry Strategy

Jaecoo, like its sibling brand Omoda, is part of the Chery group and is just beginning its European expansion. To counter skepticism about a new name, the company emphasizes warranty coverage—up to seven years on the vehicle and eight years on the battery. Combined with the price and equipment, this looks like an attempt to quickly win over pragmatic buyers.
