Today, August 29, 2025, the Chengdu Motor Show 2025 opened in Chengdu. The show ranks among the most consequential for China’s auto industry and the wider region. It is being held at China Western International Expo City and runs through September 7. Today is reserved for the press, so SPEEDME.RU reporters are on duty at the venue; the doors open to the public on September 1.

Organizers note that this year the exhibition area has reached 220,000 square meters, making room for stands from more than 120 manufacturers showing over 1,600 vehicles. On display are passenger cars, crossovers, SUVs, pickups, as well as concept cars and commercial equipment. Alongside ready-for-production models, visitors will find the latest developments in electric mobility, hybrid technologies, and digital automotive services. The breadth alone hints at where the market is heading.

Both domestic giants—BYD, Geely, Changan, NIO, and Xpeng—and international brands including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Ford, and Volkswagen have confirmed their presence. Special emphasis is placed on the new energy vehicle segment: the show features the latest debuts, ultra-fast charging technologies, and innovative control systems. The message is clear: electrification has moved to center stage.

Chengdu Motor Show is traditionally regarded as the flagship automotive event of Western China and is among the country’s four key auto shows. For the city, it is not just a large-scale exhibition but also a potent economic driver: on media day, hotels near the expo center were fully booked by manufacturer teams and journalists—an indicator that speaks for itself.
