Mercedes-Benz has officially announced a major vehicle recall campaign affecting E-Class models, as well as CLE coupes and convertibles. The recall covers 17,412 vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz plants between November 10, 2021, and January 29, 2024, inclusive.The recall stems from a software bug in the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system installed in these vehicles. This issue compromises the performance of electronic driver assistance systems, which are crucial for safe driving and comfort. In some cases, it can even lead to the complete shutdown of important driver assistance functions during operation.Repairs will be carried out remotely via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing necessary fixes to be downloaded directly to the vehicle's onboard systems. However, in exceptional circumstances, owners may need to visit authorized dealerships for manual updates performed by specialists.Of the recalled vehicles, 3,696 are currently operating in Germany, with the remainder registered in various countries worldwide.
