The completely new 2026 Nissan LEAF has been named the winner of Car and Driver's Editors' Choice award.

According to Tony Kiroga, the magazine's editor-in-chief, the updated 2026 LEAF delivers the range, performance, practicality, and value that will satisfy electric vehicle buyers.

Editors' Choice winners are determined based on the results of Car and Driver's instrumented testing, editors' assessments of how well each vehicle fulfills its intended purpose, its value, and the driving pleasure it offers, as well as each vehicle's ranking against its segment competitors. To earn the Editors' Choice title, a vehicle must score at least 9 out of 10 points from Car and Driver's reviewers.

The 2026 Nissan LEAF stands out for its reliability, affordability, and strong value proposition for the mass market. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates its range at up to 487 km on a single charge, while the manufacturer's suggested retail price for the S+ trim starts at $29,990.
