The French compact crossover Renault Captur has expanded its powertrain lineup in the Netherlands with a new 1.2‑liter gasoline engine. This unit delivers up to 115 horsepower and 190 Nm of torque, replacing the previous 1.0‑liter 91‑hp base option.

The switch has clearly sharpened performance. The run to 100 km/h now takes 12.1 seconds instead of 14.3, while top speed climbs to 180 km/h from 168 km/h. On paper it’s a measured step, yet in everyday traffic the added reserve should be felt—especially when merging or overtaking.

Developers were also intent on improving efficiency. Average fuel consumption with the new engine drops to around 5.7 liters per 100 km, compared with roughly 5.9 l/100 km for its predecessor. A few tenths may not sound dramatic, but over long commutes it adds up nicely.

In the Netherlands, pricing for the Renault Captur with the new engine starts at €31,090, making the refreshed entry specification more appealing thanks to better pace without a penalty at the pump.
