Renault has expanded the engine lineup for the Captur, reintroducing a mild-hybrid version. Previously, the model was available only with a 115-horsepower gasoline engine and a 160-hp E-Tech 160 hybrid powertrain. The new—or rather, returning—variant features a 1.3-liter gasoline engine as part of a mild-hybrid system. It delivers a combined output of 140 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. The Techno trim starts at €35,690, while the Esprit Alpine version begins at €37,690.This means the Renault Captur now offers three powertrain options. The base 115-hp TCe comes with a six-speed manual gearbox, the mild-hybrid uses a seven-speed automated manual, and the full E-Tech 160 hybrid is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. In the past, the model also had a plug-in hybrid variant, but those cars are now only available on the used market. As reported by SPEEDME, Renault plans to use Chinese components in its affordable electric vehicles.
