Polestar CEO Michael Löschel has announced plans to sharpen the brand's focus on performance. According to him, the company intends to prioritize dynamics, acceleration, and track behavior while maintaining its emphasis on design and sustainability.The executive noted that Polestar has the necessary engineering resources to develop a version capable of competing with Mercedes-AMG, BMW M, and Audi RS divisions. Among potential models is the Polestar 5, scheduled for release in 2026. This electric grand tourer will feature two powertrains, with the Performance variant delivering up to 884 horsepower via dual electric motors.The brand has previously launched limited-edition sport versions, including the Polestar 1, Polestar 2 BST Edition 270, and the Polestar 6 BST concept. Based on the Polestar 2, the BST Edition 270 came equipped with a dual-motor setup producing 469 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, along with upgraded Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes.Polestar emphasizes that further development of its sporty direction could position its 2026 vehicles as direct competitors to German premium brands. Specific timelines for new versions have not yet been disclosed.
