Tesla has completed European certification for the Model YL, an extended six-passenger version of the popular crossover. Type approval was finalized in late 2025, and production for Europe has already begun at Gigafactory Berlin. The configurator is being prepared for an update, which typically signals a quick start to sales.

The main changes involve dimensions and layout. Length has increased to 4,969 mm (177 mm more than the standard Model Y), while the wheelbase now measures 3,040 mm (150 mm longer). This allows for a proper three-row 2+2+2 cabin layout, featuring two comfortable seats in the second row and two improved third-row seats with a separate aisle. This approach makes the Model YL a more practical family vehicle, bringing it closer in philosophy to the six-seat Model X.

Technically, the model is equipped with a dual-motor system rated at 378 kW. Curb weight is listed at 2,088 kg, with a gross vehicle weight rating of 2,651 kg. It uses an LG battery with a capacity of 88.2 kWh (in a 4,600-cell format). On 19-inch wheels, the homologated Model YL achieves a WLTP range of 681 km, surpassing the Standard Long Range version's 657 km and making it the longest-range vehicle in the Y family.

Notably, the track width is increased, and the tires are staggered: 255/45 R19 at the front and 275/45 R19 at the rear. This setup helps compensate for the vehicle's added weight and dimensions. European versions will be produced in Berlin, which should shorten delivery times and increase localization. For other markets, supplies are expected to come from Gigafactory Shanghai.

If Tesla maintains its schedule, the first European deliveries could begin before the end of the first quarter of 2026. With homologation complete and production underway, the model is ready for launch.
