Forvia has secured a major contract to supply innovative seats for the Chinese premium EV brand Luxeed, a joint venture between Huawei and Chery. The deal is valued at several hundred million euros and significantly strengthens the company's position in the fast-growing Chinese market, particularly in the premium segment.

Seat assembly will take place on a dedicated production line in Wuhu, located in southeastern China. Forvia is building a new manufacturing line for the project, with components—including mechanisms, frames, and comfort feature modules—sourced from three other company facilities in Jiaxing, Wuxi, and Yancheng. Production setup will take about six months, highlighting the accelerated timeline for bringing this technology to market.

A key aspect of the contract is the Transformer Seat technology, first showcased at Auto Shanghai. This system features an intelligent algorithm that adjusts the seat's shape and support in real time based on the passenger's physique and the vehicle's driving dynamics. The technology is complemented by a lightweight metal frame and a zero-gravity seat that can recline to an almost horizontal position, distributing weight evenly and reducing spinal pressure.

Luxeed is Chery's premium sub-brand, established in 2023 with Huawei contributing electronics and software development. The brand already offers the R7 and S7 models, and is developing an MPV where such advanced seating could play a crucial role in its competitive positioning.
