Geely Riddara is exploring the possibility of building a factory for electric pickup trucks in Thailand. This move follows the launch of the RD6 model on the local market in October 2024 and positive expectations for the BEV pickup segment.

According to Cao Feng, head of Geely Riddara Thailand, despite an overall decline in pickup sales in the country, the long-term potential for electric versions remains high due to energy savings compared to internal combustion engine models. The brand aims to sell between 3,000 and 5,000 vehicles in Thailand by 2026.

Thailand is the first overseas market for Riddara outside China, where it is better known as Radar. At the same time, the company is considering expansion into Myanmar, Laos, the Philippines, and Malaysia.

At launch, the RD6 is priced from 899,000 to 1,299,000 baht. It offers batteries with capacities of 63, 73, and 86 kWh, supporting fast charging up to 110 kW DC. In the 4WD version, the payload capacity reaches 1,030 kg, and the towing capacity is 3,000 kg.

Overall, this highlights Geely's strategic focus on Southeast Asia as a key region for developing the electric pickup segment.
