According to a new Consumer Reports ranking, several three-row family SUVs stand out for different reasons, each bringing its own strengths to the segment.

Toyota Sequoia 2025

One of the frontrunners is the latest Toyota Sequoia. Its hybrid powertrain delivers 437 horsepower and launches the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.6 seconds. Despite the muscle, highway consumption averages 9.8 L/100 km. It can haul plenty of cargo, and the cabin offers seating for seven. That blend of punch and restraint lands right where many big families want it.

Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2025

For those seeking a less expensive route, the updated Toyota Highlander Hybrid steps in. It delivers an impressive overall fuel efficiency of about 6.7 L/100 km, achieved by pairing a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with three electric motors for a combined 243 horsepower. More compact than the Sequoia, it suits families who spend most of their time in the city. It comes across as the pragmatic pick for urban life without feeling stripped-down.

Lexus TX Hybrid 2025

Moving upmarket, the Lexus TX Hybrid is built on the Toyota GA-K platform. It stands out with rich equipment, from exclusive interior trim to the latest Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 and conveniences such as a large 14-inch multimedia touchscreen. The package feels tailored for long trips where quiet tech and upscale touchpoints matter.

Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid 2025

On the value side of the three-row field, the Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid keeps things accessible. Front-wheel-drive versions consume around 6.5 L/100 km, and the cabin is spacious enough for up to seven. Top trims add premium touches like Nappa leather upholstery and heated and ventilated seats, which noticeably elevate everyday comfort. Specced that way, it takes on a premium feel while staying firmly family-focused.
