BRABUS ULTIMA 55: specs, hydrofoils and design

Two six-cylinder engines with a combined output of 1,450 hp and a top speed of over 40 knots, or 74 km/h, turn the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 into a seagoing equivalent of a powerful Gran Turismo, the company’s press office told the press. It is the first luxury catamaran created by BRABUS together with Sunreef Yachts, though no price has been published yet — the manufacturer takes bespoke requests instead.

The boat measures 17 metres in length and 5.6 metres in width. A hydrofoil system is fitted beneath the hull: it reduces water resistance and softens impacts as the hulls meet waves at high speed. The standard Sunreef ULTIMA 55 uses a three-foil system, and depending on the powertrain, the model’s speed can exceed 40 knots.

That means the BRABUS ULTIMA 55 can’t be called record-breaking or fundamentally new from an engineering standpoint. The production Sunreef platform already includes hydrofoils and high-performance powertrains. The project’s main differences are concentrated in design, materials and personalisation.

The hull is finished in Graphite Black, with the bow and stern wings left in visible carbon. The housings of the LED roof lights are also made from carbon fibre, and the BRABUS logos are illuminated. The interior is trimmed in BRABUS Masterpiece leather, alcantara and carbon, with seats featuring the signature triangular stitching.

Three exterior furniture finishes are offered: BRABUS Graphite, Red and Pearl. Two available layouts accommodate up to six guests and one crew member. Sunreef retains the semi-enclosed lounge and separate cabin layout used on the standard ULTIMA 55.

The two companies’ partnership was announced back in 2024, with the ULTIMA 55 chosen from the start as the first basis for the joint line-up. The standard catamaran debuted in Dubai in February 2025 and is built at Sunreef’s facility in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

BRABUS previously expanded its marine lineup through a partnership with AB Yachts. Against that backdrop, the ULTIMA 55 occupies an intermediate position: it’s no longer the fast Shadow leisure boat, but not yet an AB yacht of more than 24 metres.

BRABUS has not yet disclosed pricing, build timelines or the ULTIMA 55’s range. So the real value of the new model lies not in a claimed record, but in the factory pairing of a proven Sunreef platform with a full BRABUS interior and visual concept.
