Toyota Yaris Cross GR SPORT 2026: new equipment, price and what changed

Toyota has started sales of the updated Yaris Cross GR SPORT in Japan. The crossover hasn’t gained power: the main upgrade is in equipment that previously required optional extras. Standard fit now includes a 10.5-inch display, heated front seats and steering wheel, and the nanoe X air purification system.

Exterior changes are limited to black-finished mirror caps and a shark-fin antenna. That brings the GR SPORT closer to the regular Yaris Cross, which received the same styling details in its February 2026 update. Back then, the 10.5-inch screen became standard on the Z, Z Adventure and G grades, while the sporty version was left out of the main revision.

The GR SPORT’s technical hardware carries over unchanged. The crossover keeps its own springs and dampers, retuned electric power steering, body reinforcements and 18-inch wheels with 215/50 R18 tyres. The hybrid version gets separate powertrain and driveshaft tuning. This configuration has been in place since the version launched in 2022.

So the update doesn’t turn the Yaris Cross GR SPORT into a more powerful variant. Toyota has closed the comfort gap between the sporty trim and the higher regular grades, while keeping its sharper-handling focus intact.

Pricing for the updated Yaris Cross GR SPORT hasn’t been announced yet. The new price list will show whether the extra comfort features are included at no extra cost, or whether Toyota has passed the cost of the expanded equipment on to buyers.
