Tesla Roadster 2026: new reveal date and what Tesla may show

Tesla has changed the date of the second-generation Roadster demonstration again. Instead of October 1, the event will take place on October 15, 2026 — exactly two weeks later. Tesla blamed the change on a severe-weather forecast: the company said it had been monitoring conditions with local meteorologists, while the event itself, according to the official statement, can only be held outdoors.

That is an important distinction: Tesla has not reported a technical fault with the car and has not linked the delay to the Roadster’s readiness. The company also has not explained why the demonstration must take place outdoors. Suggestions that the format is related to SpaceX gas thrusters or a possible attempt to make the car fly therefore remain speculation rather than a confirmed part of the program.

On September 12, the October 1 date had looked like the most concrete deadline in a long time. The prototype of the second Roadster was shown back in 2017, while the production car was originally expected in 2020. The timeline has been revised repeatedly since then.

Interest in the October event increased further after Tesla reopened Roadster reservations shortly before the presentation. The key question now shifts to October 15: will Tesla show a genuinely new production-spec configuration and confirm current specifications that are still based largely on claims made early in the project?
