MG has rolled out in Australia a more affordable petrol version of its compact ZS SUV, ahead of a full update expected by the end of the year. The new Vibe Turbo arrives with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 156 hp and 230 Nm. Priced at $27,990 in all-wheel-drive form, it undercuts the previous Essence Turbo by $3,000, sharpening the ZS’s appeal to budget-focused buyers. In exchange for the lower sticker, the Vibe Turbo forgoes the Essence’s LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, rain-sensing wipers, automatic high-beam and keyless entry, along with other items offered on the Essence Turbo. The compromise looks reasonable for those who value price over embellishments.Additionally, the entry-level non-turbo petrol MG ZS previously called Excite has been renamed Vibe with no changes to its technical specifications, further distinguishing it from the hybrid Excite, which includes more standard equipment. The move neatly clarifies the lineup.
