At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Mitsubishi Motors pulled the cover off its new electric crossover concept, the Mitsubishi Elevance. The study serves as a showcase for the brand’s latest strides in electrification and autonomy. Sharing the stand were an updated prototype of the popular Delica D:5 minivan and a fresh iteration of the compact family Delica Mini, which went on sale in Japan on October 24 this year. The Mitsubishi Elevance concept leans on a suite of intriguing technical solutions and features. All-wheel drive is delivered by four individual electric motors, a layout that signals a focus on traction and stability when the road turns tricky. For added control, the setup is paired with the brand’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) management system. The Elevance employs plug-in hybrid (PHEV) technology, enabling the use of clean, zero-CO2 fuel in step with global sustainability trends. An AI-based driving assistant analyzes driver preferences and suggests tailored trip routes that consider personal habits and current conditions—more travel partner than simple nav update. The design theme blends flowing surfaces with a contemporary, premium feel, striking a balance between athletic cues and a polished, expressive look.Inside, the Elevance prioritizes space and flexibility, with multiple seating configurations to accommodate passengers and cargo. Thanks to the advanced PHEV system, the vehicle can tow a trailer while still supplying power to equipment and accessories—an approach that meaningfully broadens how owners might use it.Beyond the headline concept, Mitsubishi also presented two refreshed takes on familiar nameplates. The Delica D:5 is an enhanced version of the well-known minivan, with improved handling and new exterior touches that underscore a more dynamic, modern stance. The model is aimed at comfortable family travel and a wide range of users, and the updates seem targeted at making everyday driving that bit more confident and refined. The Delica Mini is a compact city car that meets kei-class regulations. It stands out with a surprisingly roomy cabin, smart seat placement, and a range of drive modes tailored to urban traffic and everyday needs—precisely the sort of versatility that resonates in dense city life.
