British supercar maker McLaren has taken another step toward expanding its lineup. At a dealer gathering on 11 November at McLaren’s Creation Centre, the company outlined its first SUV, known internally as P47, which is slated to reach the market in 2028.

According to SPEEDME.RU, the P47 will seat five and use a hybrid powertrain built around a V8. Its size will be comparable to a Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, yet with a more muscular stance and a character meant to stand out among exotic SUVs. It’s clear McLaren intends to lean into performance and design to separate the newcomer from the pack, a direction that feels right for the brand.

New CEO Nick Collins had previously stressed the need for a car with more than two seats, and the P47 is a straightforward response to that brief. Beyond the SUV, McLaren is already developing additional models, including a hybrid coupe with nearly 800 hp expected in 2027, hinting at a brisk product cadence.

There was no mention of a forthcoming EV at the meeting, so brand loyalists will have to remain patient. Taken together, McLaren is sketching an ambitious roadmap through 2030, a cautious but confident stance that’s bound to keep the automotive world watching.
