Porsche has halted production of its 718 Cayman and Boxster sports cars. On the UK configurator, a notice now states that new orders are no longer being accepted, a change spotted by 32CARS.RU during its market monitoring. The manufacturer had already outlined plans last year to wind down both mid-engined models. According to brand representatives, UK deliveries will continue into the first half of 2026, after which the cars will disappear from the range entirely. The Boxster debuted in 1996 as Porsche’s first mid-engined model since the 914. The Cayman joined in 2005, and since 2016 the pair has been offered as the 718 generation. Over time, they’ve become a key part of the brand’s story, blending driver-focused dynamics with relative affordability by Porsche standards.Ending production closes the internal-combustion chapter for the Cayman and Boxster. That said, it’s not a full stop: in the coming years the nameplates are set to return as fully electric sports cars, aiming to preserve the spirit of their predecessors while embracing cleaner technology.Seen in context, the exit of the Cayman and Boxster marks a turning point for the brand, signaling that Porsche is making a firm bet on electrification even in the pure sports-car arena.
