Axalta has released its latest global report on new-car color preferences for 2025, analyzed by journalists at SPEEDME.RU. The picture remains distinctly neutral: white retains the top spot with 29% of global sales, black follows at 23%, and gray secures 22%. Together, this trio covers 74% of the market—no wonder so many roads today feel like a monochrome flow.

Against that backdrop, the shift among former favorites stands out. Silver, once seen as the universal choice, holds just 7% in 2025. Blue shades remain the go-to for those stepping away from strict neutrality: 6% globally, with blue most often serving as a balanced middle ground between practicality and individuality.

Regional differences add nuance. In North America, white’s share edges down to 31%, while blue is noticeably stronger at about 10%, hinting at a cautious appetite for more expressive cars. Europe stays loyal to gray tones, where gray leads with 26%. Asia looks the most dynamic in its demand structure: black rises to 26%, and as the electric-vehicle segment grows, brighter choices gain traction, including yellow-gold and green. South America, by contrast, remains highly pragmatic: white reaches 35%, which makes sense for hotter climates.

Paint makers say the resilience of this trend stems not only from consumer taste but also from advances in coating technology: neutral hues can be made deeper and more upscale through effects and textures without alienating the mass buyer. That technological layer helps explain why the grayscale palette can still feel fresh on brand-new models.
