Mercedes-Benz has lined up two debuts for India in 2026: the CLA EV sedan and a G-Class Cabriolet.

Mercedes-Benz CLA EV, model year 2026

The sleek, coupe-leaning sedan stays true to its character while adopting the brand’s latest design language. The new CLA is built on the MMA architecture, an EV-first platform that can also accommodate internal-combustion and hybrid models. Its wheelbase is longer than that of the previous generation, which visually grounds the car and sharpens its stance.

Inside, the CLA EV will feature an upgraded cabin and debut the new Mercedes MB.OS infotainment platform. With an 85 kWh NMC battery, the claimed range is 792 km (WLTP). The powertrain is rated at 272 hp and sends drive to the rear wheels. The electric CLA is expected to arrive in India in the first half of 2026.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Cabriolet, model year 2026

Given the G-Class’s popularity in India—and the fact that most variants are already offered locally—the arrival of the long-anticipated cabriolet looks very likely. A camouflaged open-top prototype is currently testing in Austria and will be shown in full closer to the end of next year. The cabriolet will use an electrically operated soft top, an elegant fit for the SUV’s more relaxed, lifestyle side.

Despite the front and rear camouflage, significant changes to the G-Class’s iconic silhouette seem unlikely. The G-Cabrio is expected to offer two powertrain choices: a fully electric setup with a 116 kWh battery and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo petrol engine. AMG and diesel versions may also appear. The G-Class cabriolet is scheduled for launch at the end of the fourth quarter of 2026.
