Toyota has unveiled the sixth-generation RAV4 in Europe, a model that remains the brand's largest and best-selling SUV. The update brings changes to the design, digital features, and both hybrid lineups, including a completely redesigned plug-in hybrid version.

Design and Interior

The 2026 RAV4 adopts a new Hammerhead design language, making the body wider, more substantial, and visually sportier. The GR Sport package enhances this effect with decorative elements and a distinct exterior styling.

Inside, there's a radical shift to a digital architecture: a 12.3-inch instrument screen, a 12.9-inch central display, and an available projection head-up display. With a length of 4.59 meters and a wheelbase of 2.69 meters, the cabin is now more spacious, especially in the second row, and the trunk capacity has increased to 672 liters.

Technical Details

The RAV4 hybrid receives an updated 2.5-liter gasoline engine and an improved ECO system. Performance stands at 183 horsepower, with a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 8 seconds. This version is available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.

The plug-in hybrid is the key update: it is now offered in both FWD and AWD configurations. Power outputs are 268 and 304 horsepower, respectively. A new 22.7 kWh battery provides up to 100 kilometers of electric range and supports fast charging up to 50 kW, allowing an 80% charge in about 30 minutes.

Market Significance

The RAV4 remains a strategically important product for Toyota. The combination of a large family-friendly interior, electrified powertrain options, and moderate price increases strengthens the model's position in the segment. The PHEV version has become even more attractive thanks to its extended range and faster charging capability.

Pricing and Availability

Orders for the 2026 RAV4 are now open. The hybrid starts at 43,500 euros, while the PHEV begins at 46,500 euros. Initial deliveries are scheduled for June.
