Tesla has introduced a new Standard version of the Model 3 in Malaysia, making it the brand's most affordable model in the country. The price has been reduced to RM147,600, while the range reaches 534 km according to the WLTP standard. However, this price cut comes with significant reductions in equipment.

Changes Compared to the Premium Version

The base version features a new design for its 18-inch Prismata wheels and has limited options—only two additional body colors are available. The interior sees the most noticeable simplifications: the number of speakers has been reduced to seven, ambient lighting has been removed, along with the FM tuner and door pocket lighting. The steering wheel is now manually adjustable, and seat settings have been moved to the touchscreen.

Comfort features have also been revised. The front seats retain heating but lose ventilation, while the rear seats lose heating entirely. A separate screen for rear passengers is also gone. Interior materials are simpler, with fabric seats and door panels replacing leather and microfiber suede.

Technical and Driving Characteristics

The main technical difference is the removal of the Highland adaptive dampers. The Model 3 Standard returns to a fully passive suspension, which brings its driving feel closer to the pre-facelift version.

While the 534 km range formally exceeds that of the Premium RWD, acceleration is slightly more modest, taking 6.2 seconds to reach 100 km/h.

What Remains

The package still includes basic Autopilot, six cameras with dashcam functionality, and support for the Enhanced Autopilot and Full Self-Driving packages. In terms of architecture and basic functionality, the new version loses nothing.
