South Korean carmaker Hyundai said in a press release that its 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N will arrive with a broader slate of technical upgrades. The high-performance EV keeps the same price while adding richer equipment, enhanced assistance features, and a new drift technology. The headline update is the N Drift Optimizer Pro, which introduces ten-step drift assistance tuning for sharper dynamics. Hyundai notes that it brings greater precision and control over the car’s drift behavior, with adjustable settings for drift initiation (RTO), drift angle (ESC), and wheel slip (TCS). In practice, that means drivers can tailor the car’s responses to their preference without trading away safety or accuracy—an approach that should make the handling feel more intuitive across different skill levels.Comfort and safety also get attention. Matrix LED headlights now come as standard to deliver optimal illumination on any road. When cargo takes priority, the rear seatbacks can be folded remotely from the luggage area—one of those small touches that makes daily use more convenient. The Ioniq 5 N’s traffic sign recognition system (ISLA 3) has been refined as well.Step away from the circuit, and the Ioniq 5 N proves surprisingly practical. The trunk is generous, offering 480 to 1,540 liters of space. Energy consumption can be less than 20 kWh/100 km in ideal conditions, rising to 36 kWh/100 km with a more spirited driving style. Thanks to its 800-volt charging technology, it can accept up to 263 kW and charge from 10 to 80% in about 17 minutes—useful when the road trip matters as much as the lap time.
