Dacia is launching a limited edition of the Duster called the Spirit of Sand, with only 500 units available exclusively on the Romanian market. This special version celebrates the brand's participation in the Dakar rally and draws inspiration from the 2024 Soul of Dakar concept, as well as Dacia's victory in the 48th rally marathon. Despite its sporting heritage, this model isn't an off-roader like the Sandrider—it's a fully equipped production variant.The Spirit of Sand's standout feature is its unconventional powertrain. It uses a turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine paired with a mild-hybrid system and a rear electric module. The key element is its dual-fuel setup: alongside a 50-litre petrol tank, there's an equally sized LPG tank. This combination delivers an impressive total range of 1,500 km. According to the WLTP cycle, average fuel consumption is 6.0 l/100 km on petrol and 7.3 l/100 km on LPG. The system produces 152 hp, with 31 hp coming from the electric motor. Transmission is limited to a preselective automatic gearbox.This special edition comes with an enhanced equipment package. The Cold Pack and Parking Pack include heated front windscreen, seats, and steering wheel, along with 360-degree cameras, parking sensors, and blind-spot monitoring. Externally, the model stands out with copper-brown accents, branded decals, and black 17-inch Tergan alloy wheels. Underbody protection is made from duralumin.Priced at €28,990, orders are accepted online only. The first customer deliveries are set to begin in April 2026.
