Ferrari North America has announced a recall of 80 Ferrari 12Cilindri vehicles from the 2025-2026 model years. The campaign is registered with the NHTSA under number 26V152 and carries the internal code RC 95.

The issue stems from the rear and side windows, which feature a black tint that allows less than 70% light transmission. This falls short of the requirements set by the federal standard FMVSS No. 205, known as "Glazing Materials."

The Violation Explained

Under U.S. law, passenger vehicle windows must provide at least 70% light transmittance. The affected vehicles were found to have a lower reading, which could impair visibility and increase the risk of accidents.

Ferrari attributes the problem to an incorrect configuration of technical parameters for the U.S. market. In essence, these cars were fitted with "privacy glass" that does not meet American certification standards. The glass supplier is Saint-Gobain Sekurit Italia Srl, based in Italy.

How the Issue Was Uncovered

In March 2026, one case was identified during pre-sale preparations in the United States. Following an investigation, Ferrari acknowledged the homologation non-compliance and decided to launch the recall campaign on March 11, 2026.

No warranty claims or incidents related to this defect have been reported.

The Fix

Ferrari will replace the rear and side windows free of charge with versions that fully comply with FMVSS No. 205. Production has already been adjusted—the model configuration for the U.S. market was updated in March 2026.

Owner notifications are scheduled for May 15, 2026.
